This time of year is packed with fun – apple picking, pumpkin patches, family photos, and the excitement of holiday plans just around the corner. But with all these fun activities, there’s something else that comes along – sick season.

As travel nurses, you know better than anyone how quickly those sniffles, coughs, and chills can start spreading. While the weather shift is beautiful, it’s also a wake-up call that we need to stay on top of our health. Whether it’s the chilly mornings, changing temperatures, or the germs our little ones bring back from school, it’s easy to get caught off guard.

Here at Fidelity On Call, we want you to be prepared for whatever the season throws your way. So, we’re sending out a few reminders to help keep you strong and healthy during the coming months…

  • Listen to your body: Don’t push too hard. Rest when you need it and keep your immune system in check.
  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate: Water is your best friend, so drink up!
  • Stay mindful of the little things: Wash your hands, stay active, and embrace self-care.

This season is filled with laughter, adventures, and memories waiting to be made, and we want to make sure you don’t miss a moment of it. So, take care of yourselves, stay strong, and let’s tackle this sick season together!

National Men’s Health Month

As June is National Men’s Health Month, we want to reach out to encourage our employees to take a moment to consider their mental and physical health.

Both physical and mental health are important for us to thrive in society. Therefore, we must remind ourselves how important it is to be reminded to address any concerns that they may be facing with regard to their health.

Talking to friends, family, and loved ones can be the first step in addressing concerns that an individual might be facing.

The first signs that something might be amiss can have the greatest impact on prevention and catching potential issues in their early stages. Doing so can also encourage others to come forward, ask questions, and seek treatment.

Taking steps such as these are important not only for ourselves, but they can cause a change in how it is talked about in our own social circles, in our families, and in our communities.

Fidelity On Call values the wellbeing of our employees in all areas of their lives, and we believe that communication and prevention are a core factor in doing so.

Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month

June is National Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month. Our brain health is at the forefront of our overall health. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to protect our brains and be aware of any changes or struggles that we may be experiencing.

Recognizing these changes in ourselves and those closest to us can lead us to the help and resources that we may need.

The Alzheimer’s Association shares a lot of important brain information, including more tips and tricks on how to keep your brain healthy, who may be at risk, and any support that is needed on your journey.

Alzheimer’s is a condition that was first diagnosed at the start of the 1900s. Reasons for Alzheimer’s vary and can be an interesting topic to research. You can find both traditional and alternative ways to work with or look at this disease, but do your own research. Know the warning signs and the risks that we carry. Stay proactive. Not just for you, but for the people around you as well.

Here at Fidelity On Call, the health and wellness of those in our community is important. We believe that being informed and aware is one of the first steps.

The Spring Season – A Time for Joy… And Sickness

As spring quickly approaches, most people are overjoyed with the warmer weather, longer days, and flowering plants. After all, spring is just a hop, skip, and jump away from summer pool days. However, spring is also the time for peak-season colds, thanks to the change in the weather.

It is important to us that our travel team stay healthy as the season changes. As healthcare workers, prevention is nothing new. However, we want to give out a gentle reminder about things to keep in mind during the coming weeks to prevent as many of these seasonal colds as possible.

  • Stay Hydrated: A key to much of our health is the amount of water that we consume every day. It may seem small, but making sure you drink enough water can be a great help in making sure you stay healthy.
  • Wash Your Hands: As we all know, this is nothing new. But with the various viruses and germs making their way around, this is a simple way to keep from catching anything that could be spread around.
  • Exercise: This is a great way to manage stress. Taking a daily walk, doing some stretching, or getting in the weight room is a good way to keep your body moving and endorphins pumping. Stress can be a quiet influence to causing a cold, and doing what you can to reduce that as much as possible can help in prevention in so many ways.
  • Rest: Making sure to get plenty of sleep every day is perhaps most important. Not getting enough sleep can quickly run down your body, and cause many other issues, including an open invitation to an uninvited virus.

Our traveler’s health is important to us, and we want to make sure we are doing our own part, and we encourage you to take the precautions available to do so as well.
